Intensely colored and beautiful, doubly terminated growth of what has become known as Shangaan amethyst. One side shows a couple of sharp terminations, the other what I call the “rhino horn”. This large amethyst comes from a tribally collected locale that has become famous for the sustainable practices used to extract these specimens, and this is without a doubt one of the finest ones to have been collected from this area. Pockets of the crystal have been filled with clay which could (likely) easily be removed with an ultrasonic machine.
