QUARTZ ON PYRITE

Brilliantly lustrous pyrite takes center stage on this small cab specimen, dramatically framed by radiating quartz crystals. The pyrite's complex surface features natural cavities, later filled by a second generation of both clear and smoky quartz crystals, creating an intriguing interplay of mineral generations. This unique crystallization sequence produces fascinating light play, as the nested quartz crystals change the roll of the luster across the front. Essentially all of the quartz on the display side is pristine, and any broken points can easily be hidden out of view. This is those specimens that, for composition and peculiarity, stands as more than the sum of its parts.
