MALACHITE

Arguably the finest specimens of primary malachite from any locality worldwide are those found in the Katanga region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This large cabinet piece displays the classic and ever desirable stalactitic growth that is well-known from here, and the surfaces have a wonderful rolling luster all around. What elevates this piece even further is the accompanying custom wooden base, intricately hand-carved to resemble an East Asian countryside, with the malachite depicting a foliage-covered karst mountain. Contacting is visible on the sides from where it was extracted, along with some slight contacts on the front face, though nothing that truly detracts when taking in the beautiful display.
